Speedometer ("the App") is an Android application designed to display real-time speed and trip information using location services available on your device. The App's core GPS speed and trip tracking functionality is designed to work without an internet connection.
When speed tracking or an active trip is running, the App may use your device's GPS/location information to calculate and display your current speed, distance, trip duration, average speed, maximum speed and other trip-related information.
Where provided by the device, the App may also use GPS-related information such as location accuracy and heading/bearing to support speed tracking, GPS status and compass-related features.
Location information is processed on your device for the functionality of the App. The App does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use its core features.
When you start an active trip, Speedometer may continue using location information while the App is in the background, including when you switch to another app or the screen is not actively displaying the Speedometer interface.
Background location use allows the App to continue tracking real-time speed, trip distance and trip statistics without unnecessarily interrupting an active trip.
Background tracking is performed through an Android foreground location service while an active trip is being tracked. The App may display a persistent notification while this service is running to indicate that active trip tracking is in progress.
Background location tracking is intended for an active, user-initiated trip and is not intended to continuously track your location when you are not using an active trip.
When you stop a trip, the App can save trip information locally on your device so that you can view previous trips in the History section.

Trip History and related locally stored trip information are not uploaded to an external server by the App.
Device location information is used to provide GPS speed tracking, distance measurement, trip calculation, GPS status and related navigation-oriented display features.
Locally stored trip information is used to provide History, trip statistics, odometer and related review features.
Speed information may also be used locally for speed alerts and optional voice speed announcements when those features are enabled.
The App does not sell, rent, or share your location information with third parties.
The App does not upload your GPS/location information or locally saved trip history to an external server.
The App does not require an online account, cloud storage, or an online backend for its core speed tracking and trip functionality.
The core GPS speed tracking and trip calculation functionality is designed to work without mobile data or Wi-Fi. GPS availability and accuracy depend on the device, GPS hardware, signal conditions and environment.
If enabled by the user, the App may use locally available speed information to provide voice speed announcements.
When background trip tracking is active, Android may display a persistent foreground-service notification to inform you that the App is continuing the active trip tracking service.
The App may store user-selected settings locally on the device, such as display preferences, speed units, appearance preferences, cockpit accent color, tracking preferences and other App configuration choices.
The App does not require third-party online services to provide its core GPS speed tracking, trip calculation or locally stored History functionality.
The App does not intentionally collect personal information, telemetry, analytics data, advertising profiles, or device identifiers for transmission to a server.
GPS/location information used for speed tracking remains on the device and is not transmitted to an external server by the App.
The App does not intentionally collect personal information from users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The App is designed to keep speed and trip information on the user's device rather than transmitting it to an external server.
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their Android device and protecting access to locally stored information.
Users can delete individual trip records or clear their saved Trip History using the History features provided within the App.
